What is Medicare Advantage?
Medicare Advantage Plans, also referred to as “Part C” or “MA Plans” is an alternative to Original Medicare. These are Medicare approved plans that offer “all in one” coverage to include benefits under Part A and Part B. Most plans offer additional benefits above and beyond Original Medicare coverage.
What Is Covered Under Medicare Advantage?
Medicare Advantage plans provide benefits covered under Original Medicare parts A and B. Plans also cover emergency and urgent care, even if you require such care outside the plan’s service area. Emergencies outside the U.S., however, may not be covered by Medicare Advantage. Many Medicare Advantage plans offer additional benefits that Original Medicare does not offer, like prescription drugs, dental, vision, hearing, and more.
How Do I Qualify?
To qualify for Medicare Advantage, you must be enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B. You must permanently reside in the plan’s service area.
How Much Do I Pay For Medicare Advantage?
You must continue to pay your Medicare Part B premium. There may be no-cost Medicare Advantage plans available. Plan fees are determined by the insurance carriers’ offerings in each service area.
